EDUCATION:
I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education (DPI certified elementary grades 1-6) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1999. My favorite classes ever taken were “Ballroom Dance 101” and “Introduction to Glassblowing.” My minor is in Art, as I started my first 2 years of college at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (1994-1995), studying graphic design and illustration - so, yeah, I can design a pretty mean worksheet. And my stick figures? They even have clothes. I then earned my Masters of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2007; my final thesis researched the benefits of Workshop based writing methodologies. I also took a few classes through the Uiversity of Phoenix-online in 2005 while I was deployed to Kuwait City with my former USAF Reserve Unit - the 440th Air Lift Wing while I was supporting Operations Iraqi / Enduring Freedom in order to maintain a current State of Wisconsin Teaching License. Since the completion of my Masters, I have taken courses through the School District of Menomonee Falls to learn AddVantage Math Recover (AVMR), and I maintain my cred requirements for licensure by taking McPherson's courses to stay current on new technology practices.

& CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:

Professional:
I have provided district in-service training to professional colleagues on 6-Traits Writing (2000). In 2008-2009 I served as a guest lecturer along with Mr. Michael Harris (North Middle School) at a spring in-service to MPS teachers on brain-based learning strategies at Cardinal Stritch. I served for 5 years on the Ben Franklin Building Leadership Team. I am currently Level II trained in the Jim Shipley and Associates Systematic Approach for Continuous Classroom Improvement. As mentioned above, I am also Level II AVMR trained. I was also a long-standing member of the ELA Committee, but am now seated on the District Science Committee, and the Building Math Committee.

I participated in 11 of the 14 years of BF Hoops Night by running the Drill Team, and one time Flash Mob Leader, but never as a player (weak ankles).
